Bars in Amsterdam

Very nice recommendations. I’ve added most places mentioned here to a list in google maps, so I will keep an eye as I stroll around the city on a bike. And I’ve already checked for some bike rentals, I want to rent a classic city bike for the whole period I am there, instead of using those heavy ones like the Donkey Republic.

Good idea - the style you want is called a gentleman’s bike. There’s a great record shop there too. I’ll try and find the name for you now. It’s got sooo much stuff, but not organized at all. Just random piles everywhere. So you have to call the guy and tell him what you’re interested in and he’ll dig it out for you to sort through. They also list a lot of their stuff online so you can see what they have. But if you just show up it’s a mess. Unless you have all day….

Classic shop that, I used to go loads when living in Amsterdam, just ask Amond who was sat behind cardboard mountains what’s come in recently and he’d point you to boxes that mainly dj’s had brought in. remember you could smoke in there which always felt a bit hazardous.

Jump on the short ferry over to Noord, lots to explore. Highly recommend Murmur which is a listening bar with great cocktails and a very high end audiophile system. For food Cornerstore is amazing; plus on the weekend there will be a DJ playing records. Very nice vibe.

I’m also going this weekend for a friends 40th. Should hopefully have some free time to explore and do some record shopping. Staying at the conscious hotel westerpark.

Ah. Bought off him on discogs a good few times. No complaints in the end and would but from him again, but this explains a few things…
