The prices are somewhat punchy but the quality is through the roof, given it’s just his digital output. Shaping up to be one of the best new producers out there…

If anyone is interested, the new Al Kent record is on Bandcamp. 180 copies gone in an hour. You’d need to be quick. Gorgeous record, but pricey

Which one is that @Kristoph? Just checked on Discogs to see that Pick Me Up is over £100! Must track my copy down and put in the investment cabinet

The clips sounded phenomenal. £35 is a lot for one track. I get it though, it’s near impossible to make a living making disco tracks.

This is really great - thanks for posting - and I went through their bandcamp site and there’s some stellar tunes. But I guess they don’t want us to buy them or something? £50 for a digi album, or £300 for an ep. Not so much punchy pricing as a kick in the noinkers pricing. Maybe there’s vinyl releases planned. Who knows.

I don’t understand it either. I downloaded one £5 track which is great but still crazy expensive. The other pricing £100 a track makes zero sense to me. Someone please explain.

It’s a bit weird how they’ve done it. Not sure why they didn’t just take all the EPs down as the tracks are all on the full LP (for £50). It looks like they’ve marked them as archived and bumped the prices so high no-one will buy them

Some people put £1000 for Digi as I think Bandcamp T&Cs mean you have to do digital

Some really great tunes worth checking out- there’s one called Punk Funk that channels the feeling of 99 records. I really loved the dub stuff too. But I’m a sucker for the siren!

Coming back to this, given how much money a lot of us have put into record dealers hands, a fiver for a killer track that goes straight to the artist doesn’t seem too bad.

This guy clearly has a keen sense of his own value. To paraphrase The Joker “when you’re really good at something, don’t do it for cheap”. He’s managing his demand presumably so he can get into a position to make a living from the music game. Something I find it hard to get mad about.

Yes - totally agree. I wasn’t mad at all - just really surprised at €50 for an album - never seen that before. But I know the cost of hardware etc, so I understand. And also appreciate how marginalized artists in all spheres have become. Fingers crossed for the dude or dudette!
