haha me and some fellow mutants made up a connected sub genre of this in early 2000s called the Ehop. yes hiphop that is trancendal on pingas:joy::joy:, hiphop with balaeric/deep house/Trippy sounds was the vibe,
moka only - magnitude, that ATCQ groove armada 12, the spinna polyrhthm addicts insts,
dj mitsu the beats and of course that Carl Craig incognito rmx all got hammered at kick ons
+stetsasonic forever my beat extended bongo mix

Surprised this did not come up yet

And this (rather rap. not HipHop, but it’s golden anyway)

This has a nice dreamy guitar line in it. And Devin is Balearic af in my book.

This is from old school legend Busy Bee’ second album, and it sounds really out of place on it in my opinion. This album is from 92 and this track is a bit of an oddity on it (and for rap albums of that period).
Busy Bee - Get With Me

And from De La’s 3rd album, I can imagine this being played in a relaxed/chill out kind of setting.
Really beautiful track, for De La to stick this on a rap album was a brave move imo, their whole 3rd album was a brave move! And in my opinion one of the greatest albums I’ve ever heard, top 3 for sure).

Rawkus era hiphop had some remarkable beat productions.
Case in point (by the formidable 88-Keys)

Posted in another thread, but probably works here.

Anything mentioning Summer gets a free pass.

…and Doom.

A Fela sample must make it Balearic?
