Anyone For Tennis?

What are the thoughts… Just watching the final while doing TP stuff in the background…

And yeah. LA is made for tennis… We’re near Vermont Canyon.

It’s pretty convenient he was able to return just in time for his home tournament, a warm up for the French Open. And retain his #1 ranking for so long without playing. In terms of what happened, his excuse strains credulity. I just can’t help to think it’s massive favoritism to top players. Lower players, I bet, would be kicked out of the tour.

Bring a racquet if you ever find yourself in San Diego!

Regarding his ranking, though, Sinner is looking pretty vulnerable.

Tennis pro’s love a party don’t they.

We got lucky in the public ballot last year and got Wimbledon Day 3 Centre Court tickets right behind the Royal Box. A mate that worked for Tennis Scotland got us tickets again for this year in roughly the same seated area on Day 3 again! It’s really good value once in there too, we had 3 matches and it finished at 10.40pm. Food drinks are quite reasonable, strawbs and cream £2.50!

Love watching tennis growing up which was due to my mum. Good memories of watching Wimbledon most summers in Northern Ireland through the 1980’s. Got back into watching it religiously again during Andy Murray’s time.

As for playing, I’m more of a table tennis chap.

great sports writing, 5 tennis articles that were previously published in american press brought together in one book. One of the articles is on Federer and is just brilliant.

Matches we saw at last year’s Wimbledon:

Daniil Medvedev v Alexandre Muller
Emma Navarro v Naomi Osaka
Jannik Sinner v Matteo Berrettini

Not bad for one day on Centre Court

I went to Roland Garros last year and also highly recommend it. Electric energy in the stands, and Clay is always a great surface to watch those endless rallies. Get seats at a day session at Susanne Lenglen, it’s great bang for buck.

First time watching Moutet, very entertaining

The Fonseca game was unreal. Hoping he’ll face Monfils rather than Draper but if he keeps playing at this level it won’t matter as much…

got lucky in ballot 2023 & its a great day out. I do like drinking Pimms amongst posh London Nigel Havers types ( young & old)
We were at the back on Centre court & even then your really close
Saw the Djokovic vs Rublek game which went onto after 10 so came out in the dark with no queues for the train

Only marred by sitting next to the lest Nigel Havers type ever - Had a massive box of hot chicken wings like you get from the Asda which he ate all of & then wiped his hands on dirty shorts. I also had to ask him to not have the volume on when watching cricket on his phone

My mrs is suggesting we go and camp and do the queue that way… Sounds long but could be fun. Roland Garros is great already…

On a playing tip seem to be playing three to four times a week at the moment. It’s the first sport I have felt like this about for about thirty years… Slowly getting it…

Yeah it’s good. Also just found out my tennis teacher was in Brazilian electro band CSS. Small world. (Should be in small claims really).

The best seats for centre and court 1 are normally kept for the first few hundred who have camped the night before. A friend went last year, joined the queue sat morning for sundays tennis :grinning:.

*now getting to the stage when social engagements which stop me from playing tennis annoys me. Wedding this weekend so no tennis :rage:

Really? That was a funny group, they were always fighting amongst themselves, now the singer want to bring the moniker back but a lot of the others are pissed at her again. Better to be a tennis teacher I think…
