A Picture is Worth a Thousand & one Words

for what it’s worth, i have a couple of ryko analogue pressings on clear vinyl and they sound pristine and unreal. this, for instance.

I didn’t clarify why I dislike clear (or translucent) vinyl so much, but the reasons have been mentioned by others in subsequent comments.

The visual thing. I can never find the track I’m looking for quickly. Always put the needle down in the wrong place. Not much of a problem for home listening, but useless for DJing.

And grading. It’s nearly impossible to give an accurate visible description of clear vinyl.

I know the sound quality of coloured vinyl is said to have improved in recent years, although pressing and mastering often leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve sold some late 90s house recently and they’ve all sounded great apart from one clear one, which had audible hiss in the quiet parts.

There’s nothing good about it. It even looks shit.

Come on now… The first version of this game came out over a quarter of a century ago, i don’t believe that you never heard about this until now. The series has sold over 405 million copies, that’s more than the beatles album sales.

Found an original US CD in the wild for 10p, ripped it and flipped it for £25.

I was kidding, promise!

Currently on our annual autumn holiday on the Fife coast. 5th year now in this place and it’s stunning. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a nice spot in the UK with a decent sized group.

Storm incoming tomorrow though which will be fun.

Derby day in Manchester.

15 years ago, I’d have been in town before midday nosing about in town seeing what was going on.

Now I’m up in the hills above looking down on the city taking photos of cows and life couldn’t be better.

Anstruther? Lovely along there. Our friend has a cottage in Cellardyke we sometimes use.

Indeed. Lots of nice cafe, pubs and places to eat too. Cracking views down the coast on a clear day.
