It is actually a thing on CDs pressed at MPO in the early 1990s. There was something with the ink in the booklets that has since caused the CDs to oxidize. If you ever look at a CD and it looks goldish, it probably has disc rot.

My 14 year old came home from town with a Nas CD he picked up in HMV the other week. I’ve since added 3 Feet High and Rising, 36 Chambers, Lethal Injection, and It Takes a Nation of Millions…
All picked up second hand for less than a fiver each. I love that he is interested in building a physical collection.
