Does anyone have any Modal Jazz recommendations? Particularly new stuff if anyone is doing it…
One of the best concerts I have been in last couple of years was Szilard Mezei Orchestra performing Hungarian folk songs. Compositions, arrangements, solos and improvisation, choice of instruments… all together so exciting!

Had a bit of jazz chat with the guy in ROVR shop on Saturday. I know nothing. He recommended this ‘spiritual jazz’ Ron Everett record. I didn’t have £70 for the (reissue) record but I dived in for the digital.
Have to say I’m loving it.
Any recommendations for similar vibes?

Picked up the 3 fitz gore LP reissues on sonorama a while back. Keep coming back to them. Not exactly ‘spiritual jazz’ (I dunno)? But raw and deep.
