I wanted to read the latest book by McFarlane “Is A River Alive?” I’ll save this one as well.
Not sure if you’ve read this… Probably around 10 years old now but I really enjoyed it… Covers lots of stories. Not being from London it has always fascinated me. He wrote a similar one about Europe a few years ago which I didn’t think was as good.

I’ve got the original print of this that’s been read once and then stuck on the shelf so it’s mint - so I’ve mixed emotions on the reprint - as I did when the boys own book was reprinted.
The reality is I’ve never sold a book in my life, either keep or give away so although I know I’ve got some valuable ones I’ll probably die and wife or kids won’t know the value of them and they’ll get chucked or (hopefully) a charity shop will make some money

Making my way through some classics I’ve somehow never read, currently on Catcher in the Rye. Enjoying it, but after two John le Carré classics that had me on the edge of my seat, it hasn’t really gripped me. Probably would’ve enjoyed it more if I’d read it when I was younger.

Yep, read that and then Tinker. Both are up there with the best books I’ve read.
After Catcher in the Rye, I’ve got some Graham Greene lined up. Never read any of his before, so looking forward to it.

Im a massive Le Carre fan ( re listen to the audio books when in long car journeys) - You cant go wrong
Also just read a load of Frederick Forsyth ( mentioned above) which now means I could assinate a foreign president / take control of a small african country to get mineral rights / hunt down an aged Nazi organisation
FF is very good at details , in one he writes about following a motorbike through Newark to Sleaford ( near me) and reads like he drove the route

On my second novel of the year… Enjoying this a lot. I’m a bit of a simpleton when it comes to complex plots, multitudes of characters and it can really put me off. Hesitated on this as its multi-generational but I’m following it 
. My non-fiction attuned brain means I find myself constantly checking stuff, is it true, did they really do that etc etc this seems bang on. Also got me really interested in the Comanche and Texas.

Manchester Must Dance was a great holiday read. Knew of Mike Pickering as a Hacienda DJ and Factory guy, forgot he was behind Quando Quango and T-Coy (and M People).
