No idea why he popped up in my feed, only ever seen him on ‘Dave’ seems like a nice guy, quite like his gaff an he has some Klipsch allegedly from The Loft. Actually I think I want to be his friend.

i spent some time trying to decipher the lyrics as a youth - was sure that if kym myzelle, little richard and paris grey were all in there, then every last person namechecked had to be important.

had no idea who bufton tufton was. i gave up, decided they were just odd english in-jokes.

Had no idea who Bufton Tufton was either until I read this, I like that the references are a mix of High and Low culture, Zippy, Bungle, Jeffrey Archer being a good example

I don’t care what anybody says about this track being overplayed etc. This previously unheard/unseen live version appeared online recently and I was totally taken with its seemingly simple genius. From using the familiar Baa Baa Black Sheep riff to all the timbre and dynamics squeezed into 4 minutes of pop perfection, it still sounds pretty timeless.

As talented as Wally aka Gotye is, it’s Kimbra who absolutely makes this track. There’s an isolated vocal version on youtube as well, and when she comes in with the big chorus, it is just amazing. Strangely enough, I’ve never explored her solo material, but I might after writing this. She’s in character in the performance here as well - the look she gives him at the end is perfect.

Fun fact, I was quoted on his very first press release after receiving an advance copy of his debut album “Boardface” which some friends of mine in Sydney released on their small label. I wrote to him saying I’d been playing it on my radio show and what I thought of his talent.

“Elizabeth Taylor’s brother bails out a rag-tag band of Mainlanders and invites them to live on his land. Soon, waves of hippies, surfers, and troubled veterans find their way to this paradise in Kauai until the locals decide it’s time for them to go.”

Oh so this is what can happen when a decent person is successful. So so often wealthy people’s houses are just awful. What a sensational house, and he seems great fun.

This one is pretty funny, Gabi and Sama in a interview in the german TV talking how they were in Spain and they did not get tanned because they were only going out at night. That the Spanish people go out a lot (“marcha marcha”), take a lot of drugs and go out from Thursday to Sunday while Yello is sounding in the background. Love them!
