EU tour next year at last ![]()
A mate sent me this nearly 30yrs old
recorded at club here thatās long gone⦠Greg Dowling from Fish Go Deep playing all things House ![]()
I was talking about this KEXP Beta Band performance with a mate - maybe itās the environment they are playing in, and maybe I was expecting too much due to the excitement of them reforming, but itās lacking something for me. Have any forum members seen them on the current tour? How were the shows?
I saw them in Glasgow and was pretty disappointed. To be brutally honest I thought they were under rehearsed, there was a real lack of energy in the room (and for Barrowland thatās some achievement) and what energy there was they squandered by weird set sequencing.
I dunno. I was excited to see them and it fell really flat for me. Maybe a case of better on recordā¦
i saw them in seattle, and it seemed like everyone BUT steve was enthusiastic.
mentioned it in another thread but early on in the show, steve got mad at something and chucked his guitar and broke the headstock off of it. during some of the stage banter someone shouted something about the guitar, to which steve replied āitās fucked, mateā. kind of a funny little tantrum, seemingly somewhat out of character.
during their pre-performance DJ set, they played cookieās edit of āgod only knowsā. it was sweet.
just been watching this. loads I didnāt know! ta
remember the Switch mix 20 years ago causing total carnage everywhere (big Ross Allen fave)
Saw them in Manchester and I while I really enjoyed it, It was quite a āquietā gig if that makes sense?! Upstairs in the Apollo near the back isnāt the best place to watch a gig from though.
London Roundhouse was an amazing gig. Brilliant atmosphere and band on top form.
Using thousands of photos taken by NASA astronauts Butch Wilmor and Don Pettit earlier this year from the International Space Station, SeƔn Doran made this incredible timelapse called Light Fantastic.
Kermodeās 15 minute evisceration of Avatar 3 is gold. Sometimes find him a pretensious, chin stroking bore but occasionally he goes for the juglar and its often more entertaining than the film

Easy gig for Simon Mayo, barely ever says fuck all ![]()
I watch this often. Itās an important reminder to engage with the world, because thatās where the best fun is to be had.
