In case there’s anyone in the world who hasn’t yet seen this, inspired by the B McF post on the ‘nice’ thread

After finding the time and space to watch this loudly and in full (whilst on a bit of both)… I feel this should be pinned in the Happy 420 thread as some kind of restorative tool… maybe the dancing to Mental Health thread too… or you should all just come round once a year and I press play. Stunning invention, layering & creativity!

Love that, thanks

I was recommending this doc to someone the other day and i commented that it might not be easy to find as i had seen it a number of years ago, but it turns out she has put it on youtube. Deeyah Khan goes to meet and speak with members of far right, racist gangs and groups. A few of the people she meets are so charmed by her that they give up being racist.

I saw RL Burnside live twice in one week at the Basement club here in Sydney. The last of his kind. A truly amazing character.

A sizable portion of his family was tragically killed in Chicago during the late 1940s, with multiple murders occurring within the span of about a year. He’d moved north from Mississippi in search of better opportunities, joining relatives in Chicago. However, as he recounted in his song “R.L.’s Story”, his father, two brothers, and two uncles were all murdered there during this period.

‘50 years ago, on September 18th 1975, James Brown introduced “Future Shock” A Variety TV Series hosted and produced by none other than The Godfather of Soul. From Dance parties, interviews, and star-studded musical guests, the Future Shock Show is a true time capsule of soul in the late 1970s.’
