puzzled as to why they dismissed Garnier at the beginning. wasn’t F-Communications the driver of French techno?

Similar - Winston Hazel would get on the mic occasionally at Occasions as well - The soundsytem background & was always great & measured
20 Seconds to Comply
Great record, massive in Sheffield & not that far away from AW favourite of Total Confusion
Probably about the only record played by Winston Hazel, Andrew Weatherall & anyone vaguely hardcore
Missed this when it first aired. The UB40 story. Latter part is so sad.
And a modern classic imo. 303
Always remember being at an afters in Seven Sisters and everyone (DJ included) was ketted out of their minds so I took over and plugged in my ipod and blasted out loads of hardfloor. Circus Bells sounded amazing.
Locals only! Nic Cage comes up against some tribal minded Aussie surfies in this ott trailer. No doubt, chaos ensues.
Stereolab on the Word. Proper.
They’re gigging again end of the year
So are The Beta Band!
beta band was one of the best shows i’ve been to. didn’t even plan on going, but one of them snuck up on me at the record store and asked if i wanted to be on the guest list.
no openers, they all took turns casually djing and standing around, then they played some of their films, then finally took to the stage to play. at one point they all got antsy and switched instruments, and it sounded just as good as before. i know they made a point of talking about how shit they were, but i’d disagree - it takes a lot of skill to sound that shambolic.
Almost exactly 27 years since I first saw them at Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth. 9th March 1998.
The fact they played Freaky Dancin in the pre gig DJ set then ran onto the stage to the circus theme tune before all swapping instruments throughout the gig made me love them forever.
Tickets on sale 10am tomorrow.
