What are you watching?

I try to reread A Perfect Spy every year in wintertime. Really hits. And it’s a very personal story…

and the BBC adaptation of that is excellent too.

Same. Watched the first episode last night on @Nice2CU2CUNice 's recommendation and the fact that Lucy Mangan only gave it 2 stars in the Guardian. Really enjoyed it and confirmed my view that she doesnt know what the fuck she’s talking about.

:100: … I’ve watched 4 episodes and it’s very believable and free from all the nonsense…

That’s exactly why I watched it. If she says it’s bad it’s good and vice versa.

Have to be honest that I struggled with Task… I’m going back to my spies.

Anyone watching the new Partridge? Whole thing is on iPlayer and first ep was vintage Alan. A welcome return to the documentary format of Scissored Isle.

Yes we were watching earlier tonight. Thank god someone’s talking about mental health at last.

Hotel Costiera: lightweight pleasure, perhaps best seen as a modern take on Magnum P.I. Nice-to-look-at people in a beautiful backdrop and not too much to think about.

Started really strong but the laughs progressively dropped off for me. Will stick with it though.

The Oasthouse podcast audio books have been the same for me, the latest one barely raised a smile :face_holding_back_tears:

I agree. I finished the series last night and the last two episodes weren’t great compared to the very strong start, as you said.

Started watching ‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story’ on Netflix last Saturday evening. Switched it off after about 40 mins as its so fucking bleak.

Will file next to Requiem For a Dream and Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer.

One to revisit for sure, but at another time.

I remember reading about Ed Gein years ago and it has stayed with me over the years so much so I saw that on Nutflex and was immediately oh hell no! :grimacing:

I’m struggling with it as well for the same reasons, on episode 2 and will carry on for now but 1 episode a night rather than binge it, I switched to Steve starring Cillian Murphy as a youth counsellor but that’s a hard watch as well.

Extremely bleak, watched 3 episodes but it’s a one ep per night job. Charlie Hunnam sounding like Ernie from Sesame Street takes some getting past mind you. Even 3 episodes in I’m still sniggering as soon as he opens his gob.

Exactly. We were the same with the Dahmer miniseries (lasted 5 minutes maybe).
Who needs to have that in their heads?

Did 3 episodes on the trot of Ed Gein - loving it. The side stories about Alfred Hitchcock and Anthony Perkins are great. The real star for me are Ed’s clothes. In fact, in some ways the whole thing feels a bit Mad Men in so far as it often seems a show about clothes.

Just watched first ep. Thought the lol’s were high. Accidentally dressed as Rupert The Bear while shopping for balaclavas completely buckled me

Started watching Platonic on Apple TV. Comedy thing with Rose Byrne and Seth Rogan. Wanted to like it, but I don’t think we’ll be sticking with it. Same story with Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue. Blue Lights has been great though, and Wayward will be next up for us.
