My only worry is that it becomes to overhyped as some kind of miracle cure for various conditions - there’s still a lot of work to be done. But it is a really exciting time, and I would hope that this treatment will be available within the decade.
I’m currently signed up to do a few modules in the new year and to then get on a Masters programme in Psychotherapy. I’m hoping by the time I’ve done that, there will be training courses in psychedelic psychotherapy running in the UK.
being a man of my age i felt like i owed it to my young self to watch the obi-wan kenobi series on diznee pluss. i didn’t devour it.
it was fine but the story wasn’t great, it all felt like they were trying to adhere to a pre-written preamble - which of course, they were. really the only thing that saved it was good acting from ewan mcgregor, moses ingram, and the little kid who played leia (surprisingly good). some of the special effects were crap - shockingly budget considering the wealth they have at their disposal.
and maybe that’s the problem - diznee has a generous helping of IP but the story can only go so many ways and they’re trying to make new things consumable all the time - and given that they’re an american capitalist company, they’re trying to juuuuuust go over demand without spending too much on supply.
anyhoo, it felt strong in places and i was pleased they didn’t try to cram a silly new character or a made-for-retail toy into it (though i can almost guarantee that the reva character will get her own series) but other than that, it was just kind of meh, and maybe that’s everyone playing it safe without coloring too far out the lines.
I think they’re learning that they need to move away from the tried and tested characters/limitations and move into different portions of the universe. There is talk of them going a hundred years in the future which could be very interesting.
With all of the info on the characters, and, as said, you know everyone lives it does take the shine off it all.
Spot on. It was like the Solo movie, kind of unnessacary. We dont need a back story inventing, everything we need to know about these characters is there in the original trilogy. They need to move away from the legacy characters and tell new stories. Thats whats so fun about the Mandalorian.
There is nothing like that show. I love the writing and the way they approach tough subjects and spin perspectives, all with a nice measure of surrealism.
Just finished series 3 and agree it’s one of the best things on TV.
Atlanta episode 4. Wow. I’m not sure how to process it. For a show labelled a comedy that was some deeply complex, provacative and thought provoking stuff. More proof that Donald Glover is some kind of genius. I need to go and read up on Reparation now.
This and Better Caul Saul head and shoulders above anything else on TV.
D. B. Cooper: Where Are You? on Netflix, I had a free morning and have a bit of fascination with this case so watched all four episodes in one go.
It’s as much about the obsession of some of the reporters and citizen sleuths, whose lives have been consumed by solving the case for decades, as it is about the heist.
