A geat read on Spotify alternatives…
That was a good read. Lots of practical advice. I’ve been trying to get off Spotify for a while now and on to Tidal (probably) but my son is on my account too and it’s proving a challenge to extract him from it too.
Sad indictment of our times
2 articles offering very different slants on whether ‘Gen X’ is economically fucked. Both worth a read.
Pulitzer Prize winning stuff
And to think - once they were highly valued as prize message-bringers. The retired avian ancestor to the mobile phone and internet!
Ghost Dog would be rolling over in his grave at that article.
Like The Guardian emoloyed the pub bore
like the editor married him more like
‘And a copy of the Spice Girls’ album Spiceworld, which had an estimated price of £340 to £360, sold for £780’
So an average of £4.40 each?
What a legacy to be remembered by, hoarding to the very end.
I had a flick through the catalogue earlier in the week, all MOR. Who is paying these amounts?!
Theres a ton of independently wealthy record shop owners round here. Business model based on getting even richer selling grandads ‘rare’ beatles collection.
Everything moved to the internet 20 years ago and it’s saturated with dealers selling crap, it makes no sense at all.
A depressing reminder to those of us with large record collections that they will probably end up sold as job lots for a fraction of what we think they’re worth by whoever gets the shit job of inheriting them/getting shot of them.
This. I’ve been seriously thinking of shifting my Psych and Freakbeat 45’s whilst there’s still an audience because in 10-15 years time, they’ll be utterly meaningless/worthless to anyone if I’m honest
People probably said that in the 80s … and prices don’t seem to be going down
Crazy prices for some of this stuff really. I expect mostly bought by dealers who will try and inflate even further upwards. I bid on one of the soundtrack job lots because it had a few I’d like and I’d have just got rid of the rest on eBay but it sold for five times my top bid in the end…
