I think I bought this just after it was released in 2013 ish and for some reason never read it. Just bashed it out in a couple of sittings. Very enjoyable!

Just finished this… it’s written a bit ‘stream of consciousness’ ie no chapters. Quite a few tunes quoted I don’t know. Think i need to cross reference the whole thing with YouTube and that book of pictures of closed Italian clubs I have but can’t remember the name of…

“In 2002 then senator Joe Biden introduced the Reducing Americans’ Vulnerability to Ecstasy (RAVE) Act, which sought to increase the criminal penalties for MDMA and classified pacifiers and glow sticks as drug paraphernalia.”

Very good piece - tbh much as I still crave a legendary night out I’m kind of ambivalent about MDMA now. Would probably take me a full essay to really analyse it though. MDMA users tend to divide into people who think it’s a bit of a laugh and those for whom it’s a holy grail but outside the rave I don’t think there has been enough research into how it affected people’s lives in other less obvious ways - relationships, politics, work. Millions of people must have tried it and been affected and yet it is still a total taboo in mass media.

Yeah. It’s kind of fun though. I like all the details you’d never know otherwise. Pretty bad in many ways but those bits are great. Clogs as a fashion trend in Italian clubs. : )

The Italians using very British insults and expressions is unintentionally hilarious too.

A short story from senor Stoker :bat:

Really interesting article. It’s why we come here I guess. I don’t post much but I feel comfortable here, like I kind of belong and it’s something I can contribute to if I choose. I also learn a lot and find interesting things like perfume reviews that enhance my life! But if/ when I venture onto twitter or other platforms it always feels like the internet is happening to me. It’s just draining.
