Awesome thanks for this.

Wise words on a similar theme from Echoplex. I started a Bandcamp page early 2025 with the sole purpose of releasing quick stereo out ideas as a kind of aversion therapy, feel the fear of judgement and do it anyway. And I didn’t do any of that. So fuck it, I’m going to do it in 2026!

Thanks Joe - a great read that connects quite a few dots.

There’s the fictional London transatlantic morons like to trash for cynical political ends - and then there’s the real one some of us have actually lived in. Clive Martin made his name as a spoof hipster at VICE but he’s evolved into quite a thoughtful writer. In this article he recalls the London of 2005 through the prism of a hospital ward.

Agree Just Kids is good. I don’t like her music (or have much time for Mapplethorpe’s art either) but it’s a fascinating read, and she’s a great writer.

That’s a great, grim piece of writing. Thanks for the link…

Still have mine, but no means of retrieving the files (won’t connect to car either)

I still run a pair of upgraded ipod classics (swapped out the drive to a SSD). I never got onto listening to mucis on my phone or streaming. The ipod batteries last forever and they hold so much music.

I’ve had loads of great solo nights out. Sometimes it takes a while to be accustomed to your own company…

i remember years ago i used a programme called senuti (Itunes backward…) to DL my Ipod. I dont know if there is an updated version, but maybe worth a look…?

i almost prefer it. i never have to worry if anyone is on my level.

sharing a big musical experience with pals is magical, but due to my specific tastes i’ve found i’m often alone in enjoying moments anyway. might as well arrive and leave solo and not think twice about anyone else’s fun.

Someone has created an easy to navigate depository for all the Epstein stuff - emails, photos, etc. Use it just like G-suite

Thin Desires Are Eating Your Life - seems a timely article as we approach the reflective new year period; ‘Build something that will never scale, never be monetized, never attract users.’

It’s impossible to tell truth from lies in modern news media. This was in a reputable political science journal, albeit it has US editors and the author was exiled. Mad if true:

New Dave Haslam piece on a connection between Joy Division and David Hockney. Fascinating

I’d say 90% of the Venezuelan diaspora where I am are ecstatic about what happened but in the wider scheme, this was never about Venez politics (or drugs). Aside from total control of the heavy oil, the US also wanted to neutralise Chinese influence in their ‘backyard’ + any business that circumvented the dollar-based financial system. Anything else is just smokes and mirrors. In some ways this is a replay of a the bad old gringo bullying of the 70s/80s but with more mafia tactics. This is the new era of international relations,: banditry, extortion and protection rackets.
