About 13 years ago, I saw him do a really good talk on internet outrage at the Ropetackle Centre in Shoreham, when social media was still young & naive. Do need to read this

That would be lan Little and Laura Silber, two proper journalists. The book is brilliant too. The BBC at its best.

She’s a treasure. I read her memoir of growing up in Cairo a few years ago, brilliant.

Cheers for the heads up, it’s on my list now, l do like good travel writing and have read a fair bit… At its best it touches on history, current society and takes me to another place, but there’s an awful lot of dross out there as you probably know. Some decent ones that spring to mind:

hadn’t been to the Corsica in years but that really is sad. I always thought its location meant it was immune to noise complaints… Of all the clubs I ever went to in the smoke, nowhere was ever more fun… so many memories from the Lowlifes… that dilapidated sofa, the mysterious Dickie Davies poster, MC Kinky on stage… + all the amazing one-off gigs Lil Louis, Beppe Loda, Dr Nishimura amongst others.

Yeah i dont get the noise complaint bit at all.
Too many great memories. A classic south london railway arch venue.

Closing party on Mar 28th - Bill playing (mongst many others id expect)

Dickie Davies poster was left over from a Low Life party. In fact LL did the first parties there when it was still a rehearsal space. Sad for Adrian, who is a brilliant, lovely man who built that place up from nothing.

Loved that place, used to go regularly when I lived by the Vauxhall bridge. Especially to the Trouble Vision and Tief parties around 2012-2014. Loads of memorable nights spent dancing to Tama Sumo, Hunee, Maurice Fulton, Vakula etc. Pretty sure there was a new years party with Theo playing… mad line ups on the regular. Loved the dancefloor of the bigger/main room, proper sweat box with people facing all four corners. It’s also the only club I’ve ever been thrown out of following nefarious activities in the smoking area. Back the next week. <3

I met my partner in Corsica Studios in 2016 during ALFOS night ended up living in NZ with her and having a Kiwi baby…so that place has plenty to answer for.

I found this interview I conducted 20 years ago(!) with Bill Holt, the man behind one of the most unique psychedelic found sound/collage/musical creations recorded - Dreamies.
