LOL straining but working on it
back in the mid-80’s when i was trying to figure out the whole concept of DJing - my best pal and i determined that we needed DJ names.
he chose “DJ Q” because he was like ‘oh man the letter Q is cool, plus, we cue records right? that’s what we do’. i thought it was kind a terrible name and told him as such. very mild arguments ensued. luckily, we sucked at the time and didn’t become so successful that we needed to rethink the customer-facing branding we’d poorly chosen. other things happened and the DJ name thing was left behind, and luckily - he wasn’t the 21st “DJ Q”.
Always reminds me of the Voice of Q, pretty space age futuristic for a Glaswegian imo.
Love that tune. I’d bought a few disco and boogie tunes on Philly World prior to getting Voice of Q. I was blown away by how spacey it sounded in comparison. Bought ET Boogie around the same time too. 1982 was a good year.
Sure was, at Stockport College, Jonzun Crew in one ear, Joy Division in the other.
Getting lost in this today, not for everyone maybe but still bit of an opus!
