What are you listening to now, I mean right now in this moment?

Better late than never! A remix I did for Australian indie band Big Heavy Stuff when working at Redeye Records with Nick Kennedy who drummed for the group got put onto streaming services today. I made this on my home PC and took it into work to surprise Nick, next thing you know he added it to their next EP, “Mutiny”, which has long been out of print since its 2003 release.

HOLOSOUND @ PYNK VINTAGE - AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING (THROWBACK SET) by Holosound on #SoundCloud

Been a big fan of Khidja since first hearing them at terry childs nbiru party in dalston many centuries ago. (Paramida played a blinder that night too!) Always so inventive and imaginative

Definitely not Balearic but this mid eighties Japanese private-press jazz-rock tribute to Lee Perry is splitting my head open

Chefskissaroony.

EDIT: Ahh, it’s Simon Crompton from Digital Justice! Also, floaty banger.

Still rumbling on, this one. Never saw it coming in a million years.

It’s very sad as Roisin’s music is so free-spirited and generous and so rooted in the scenes and times we tend to revere the most. I know the people attempting to derogate Roisin for her private comments on puberty blockers deny being misogynists, but if the outcome of their ‘campaign’ is to silence and deny publicity to one of the very few 50 year old, independent, creative, successful, adored female artists that we have then I’m afraid I will use the evidence to draw my own conclusion.

It’s a great record, have been listening to it all week. But what has happened to society?

I made the mistake of looking at Twitter as she was trending. Just brought out the worst people with the worst opinions on both sides. I’ve been enjoying it too but it feels like twats will either buy it or not buy it, go see her or not see her for reasons that have nothing to do with MUSIC.

Yep. I’ve got tickets to see her next year and while I’m sure it will be brilliant as usual there will be a weirdness about it that is unnecessary.

She’s got right wing reactionaries defending her even though they have no idea who she is and identity fanatics wanting to burn her at the stake. She can look after herself for sure but she must be pretty down about it.

All because someone decided to ‘grass’ her for a comment made privately days before her album release. What a fucking snake

I had tickets for an instore thing she’s doing in Guildford tonight but I’m absolutely not going…

Because I can’t get a babysitter and get there in time, not because of all the daft bollocks being spouted! Shame as I fancy seeing her perform for a couple of hundred people. Tix gone to a friend or I’d give them away here

Ross Allen played a track from the album this morning. 6 Music denying the shifting of a 5 hour overnight slot to Little Simz’s music next week as coincidental doesn’t really hold water.

Yep, and the Times, Mail and so on are reporting on it saying that Murphy has been replaced by “woke rapper” Little Simz! I bet poor Simz is fucking delighted that 6Music have drawn her into this mess. For all we know, Little Simz might have the same views on puberty blockers and big pharma as Roisin Murphy. Come to think of it, shouldn’t 6Music vet all artists or their views on this topic before their music gets played? The whole thing – and I truly wish it wasn’t a “thing”–is ridiculous.

Sorry, aint going to say anything else about it now.
