Steve Lacy IMO is as underrated as they come. His late career stuff with Mal Waldron is the definition of āmastery of form.ā

Sunday morning special - Morgan Fisherās 1985 synth rethoughts on Satie.
Morgan Fisher has had a storied career as part of ā60s one-hit wonders Love Affair, thru to playing keys for Mott The Hoople in the ā70s, and working on ambient, improv and soundtracks in the ā80s alongside Yoko Ono, Haruomi Hosono and Dip In The Pool.
Inside Satie was recorded in Japan following Fisherās move from the UK in the mid ā80s. Perhaps a perfect fit for the sophisticates of Tokyo at the time, the album adapts Satieās timeless minimalism to a mix of electronic and acoustic instruments, highlighting and feeding into the similarities between Gnossiene and Gymnopedie and the new age ambient zeitgeist of Japan in 1985.
As a meditation aid, a coffee table staple, and a historic artefact, Inside Satie is a beautiful and warmly satisfying document totally worthy of reappraisal in 2018.

Thereās a tune on that comp by CXX called Comfort of Strangers that is ridiculously good. Unfortunately it wasnāt part of the vinyl release and the 12 is about Ā£150 on Discogs

I am listening to hold music while attempting to secure a vaccination appointment for an elderly friend. It sounds like someone playing air supply with terrible stock sounds through a Vaseline smeared speaker. A behavioral scientist told me that hold music is often purposefully terrible in order to cut down on queue times by causing customer attrition. Right now I fully believe him to be correct
