“A problem shared is a problem doubled” as I used to tell my employees. What a great boss I was!

One for the kids (and parents), but the message is for everyone

I am definitely fighting the phone time right now. I finished a book, a Weller biog - not bad, the other day which (sadly) felt like an achievement. So back into reading and it feels like music biogs are the win for now. Next up Ray Davies and a punk memoir.

Good that. Dancing through the Fire?

Ever read the one Paolo Hewitt wrote after their acrimonious falling out?! Unsurprisingly a different picture painted…

It was called My Ever Changing Moods and had such a grumpy picture of him on the sleeve I had to take it off heh… It was ok. Not read the Paulo Hewitt one but he seems a bit of a one… His book on Heavenly trying to be Absolute Beginners was pretty laugh out loud though fairplay to anyone that writes an actual book… Why did they fall out?

Allegedly because Weller didn’t invite him to the Brit awards when he received the lifetime achievement. The book is quite petty!

Oh wow… That’s a pretty sad reason does make me want to read it though.

Heaven’s promise?
I have a signed copy if you make me an acceptable offer
It is unread…

Read it. It’s pretty special. : )

Deleting Instagram from my phone has been a success and I’m now about to completely delete my account. Reading a lot more physical books and a lot more present in general. My phone is not the only go to when I have some time although I still use it to reading the paper (have a subscription to The Times - although looking into getting a physical copy delivered on a Sunday)

The only social media I now engage in are WhatsApp which is locked down most of the day and this forum. I’m slightly worried I’m going to end up the annoying guy who bleats on that phones are now detrimental to my enjoyment of life. I’m slowly but surely trying to reduce the role mine plays in my everyday

Honestly you’re not wrong. I just got back from Greece, the charging cable I took didn’t work so I left the phone at home most days. Found a paper map of Athens in the apartment and used that - I’m convinced Google Maps makes you stupid. Not to mention the temptation to constantly look up stuff rather than just take a chance.

Have shut down my old ‘personal’ Insta page, and two other ones, and now just have one account. I’ve just checked and have made 7 posts since 1st January (four music related, and three political), which compared to my former self is like going from smoking 1000 fag’s a day to 1.

One day at a time…

In all honesty, I’ve found so many other things to fill my days, like life and work, that I can’t believe how much of my time from 2007-onwards was wasted on the very thing that I have realised is going to destroy civilisation.

Only insta left for me but to be honest, my use of it has really soared this year. Last year I didn’t use it at all for seven months. Weirdly I’ve had 1000 new followers in the last couple of weeks after a few people with big follower numbers shared a post, and it’s actually made me want to stop using the account as it sort of feels less personal. I don’t mind insta generally but agree it’s more and more obvious that social media is causing immeasurable harm to humanity. I would like to leave entirely but there are some people I like interacting with on it.

Love your record posts, easily one of the most wholesome accounts I follow on IG…

Yeah agreed. Instagram is just the worst evil there is really. It drags me back in and I don’t even notice and for djing and stuff these days and the radio its where you have to tell people what you’re up to… I mean do they even care is the question but when you see a nice post (a la one of yours Jolyon) it is very refreshing…
