The price of Guinness in Dublin :flushed:

A few years ago, i rocked up to dj in a club i had a residency in and found out that Gok Wan had booked the entire place out for an event. This must have been just at the start of his dj career, i asked him what had inspired him to start djing and he said he really enjoyed hearing Annie Mac dj and that she had urged him to start playing himself.

In all honesty, i can’t really say a bad word about him as a person, he was absolutely charming, friendly and open seeming.

He’d brought 8 pioneer cdj 2000 nexus 2s with him and 2 pioneer djm900 nexus 2 mixers, which he had set up in both rooms of this venue. We spoke for a brief while and then he rushed off downstairs to sound check, when he came back up he performed, presumably, the same soundcheck upstairs.

Which was the most hilariously inept display of button bashing i have ever witnessed someone perform on cdjs in my entire life. It was absolutely glorious, songs just randomly playing over each other out of time, buttons being pressed, knobs being turned at random. I wish i had filmed it.

Then he pulled the volume down, seemingly happy with what he had done and cancelled the entire event. Him and his team packed everything up and left the venue. I had to plug back in the existing decks and dj for the rest of the night myself.

When i spotted this mix, i couldn’t help but give it a quick blast just to see what it sounded like, and it seems like he has learned to mix properly since then. I guess i caught him at his “Dust Brothers at the Heavenly Social” period of his dj career.

Ankle length puffa jackets , two Mums at my daughter’s primary school favour them. Just… Why? Remind me of the airing cupboard at our house in 80s with the encased boiler.

Honestly, the kids these days.

Slap house. A subgenre of house that derived of deep house during the late 2010s. The genre usually plays around 120 bpm. Slap house is closely related to Brazilian bass, but has less bombastic sound design, more melodic and contains radio-friendly elements, comparing to club-oriented Brazilian bass.

So it’s like Deep House from 2010 but exactly the same as EDM?

Coming soon… Future Slap House Bass.

I think some of them look really good! It’s all about how you wear them. Most women dress way better than most men, problem is most men look like they are trying too hard so it looks wrong, the rest don’t try and look like tramps, Me? Am a naturist, only wear a sock.
