Yeah that’s a bit weird. They are flying over Nancy noise, Leo mas, jaimie for the launch party so it’s maybe got someone who knows what’s what there somewhere… can someone get the tester and give us a review in the aftershave thread
An Ibiza memory box update. @gregg called it.
I love how they frame the AI as a service to those who don’t speak French, as if voiceover artists/actors don’t exist. Or subtitles.
Oof that voice is pretty bad. Not heard of this brand. Loewe did a few Paula’s Ibiza frags 2020-22. They are sort of self-consciously tropical with a coconut-patchouli vibe. Very strong, too. I’ve not been impressed with Loewe frags.
There is also a Hierbas line which has been around forever and from what I recall was a perfectly pleasant lemony cologne with herbal notes…
I never went. And I’ve not read this but I imagine it will be an, er, interesting read.
I don’t care if I sound like a snob but I always found all this stuff incredibly naff. Mid 90 to early 2000s shiny shirts, predictable shit handbag house, and the creepy bloke from manumission shagging his girlfriend on stage … again it sounds snobby but this was all the antithesis of what the early UK House culture was all about in my head.
Same. The main reasons why I swerved Ibiza from 1993-2003.
And they’re back …
Agree. It’s when all the ‘Townies’ got on board with it. What the folk who previously were going out round pubs in shirts tucked into trousers eventually morphed into.
Totally agree. In fact the protagonist in my novel got together with his girlfriend/wife the night they both bailed on a night there for just this reason. I never understood it. And, no, you don’t sound like a snob.
To be fair that was UK as well
In defence of Manumission ( & never went) it seemed very quiet in 93 to what I thought it would be
They did kick start it a bit
My friend was their resident 94 - 2010 & then ran their venues but I probably wouldnt have liked the music ( sorry Griff)
I do agree with @jolyon though as well - Not what we spent our time in the Acid House trenches for
Yours a Balearic Foot Soldier ( Territorial Army Division)
I went in its first year and it was great - really cosmopolitan crowd full of island faces - the hippies, the Eurotrash, the freaks. They had Alfredo on.
It obviously got highly tedious very quickly - once the tour operators started bussing in pissheads from San Antonio to watch the shagging…
Grace Jones has now heard we’re visiting Amnesia and has decided to perform for us.
Which is nice.
