We need a KDJ thread.
Went to a couple of v different moodyman gigs in London. One at The End where he turned up in this Yasser Arafat style headscarf, that was where I first heard technologystolemyvinyl which sounded so original and different. A really good set with Shades of Jae the obvious crowdpleaser. The other time was at that venue by Netil House where he seemed disengaged. We exited when he dropped REMâŚ
A further thought on the Petridis piece, I still canât believe he picked inner city as #1âŚ
Shouts for the Bells and Throw. Obvious choices but still killers.
I donât think anyone could get this list ârightâ but I totally agree with you about Inner City.
Saw him at the Electric Chair (I think), at Jillyâs anyway. Did it in quite a radio style, lots of mic action, stopping records mid track to chat. Quite enjoyed it as he clearly doesnât give a shit, just does what he does.
Saw him do a KDJ showcase at the Jazz Cafe many moons ago with @shake and he was incredible, kind of like an insane cabaret. Then we saw him at Field Day where he played Kings of Leon or something equally rough mid-set, very odd! I wasnât sure how to interpret it, was it some diss at a predominantly white British audience?
I do miss old militant and mysterious Kenny.
Yes it was EC. I was there that night.
Sex is on fire I think. Cleared the floor sharpish
discovered this last week, '88 Banks and Merriweather Pre UR, I think Maurice Fulton may have studied it a bit?
Anyone got a link to a favourite Anthony Shakir DJ mix?
The presenter on this show says that Shake (and Claude Young) are the only DJs to give Jeff Mills a run for his money skills wise.
I stuck this up in the bandcamp thread but probably merits a place in here too
track 3 in particular. outstanding. If anyone gets to hear this in the discos or fields or castle courtyards am very envious
Itâs great. The newest one (Come On Claire Reece) is ace too, but no digital
Detroit Techno special from Richard Sen on Do You Radio:
Really like that track, almost a departure in style
