Manchester tips

Blossom Street Social would be good for beforehand, they usually have DJs playing vinyl in a balearic style. A short walk from there are Bionic Seven & Bags of Flavour for vintage menswear, the Northern Quarter is definitely still the place to go for record shops and clothing.

Is king bee still going strong? Had many record shop moments there in the 90s

Yep, not been in for yonks because i’ve not been buying vinyl but was in Chorlton a couple of weeks ago and passed it and it was open then.

A younger work mate is going to homobloc this Saturday think it’s an all dayer…Has anyone been? What should he expect…?

Not been myself but mates went last year. Sounds like a riot by all accounts. Very mixed, bang up for it crowd. Loads of drag action. The Depot is a bit too big for my liking, 3 huge warehouse spaces but sometimes they utilise the smaller spaces and the nearby pub which is where the real action is.

My daughter is going to Yung Lean tonight at Victoria warehouse… She’s there for 2nts…

I’m back in Manchester (been living abroad and not been home for three years) over Christmas.

It’ll be the first time with a 1.5 year old in tow - any ideas what we can do?

I’m counting on you, Balearic dads. Wanting cheap kid-friendly things and some late-night adventures.

@12342234 I’m not Manchester based but we are over there quite frequently with our boy.

Some of the obvious family friends tips off the top of my head:

Science and Industry Museum
LEGOland Discovery centre / Sealife at Trafford Centre
The Lowry
People’s Museum
Museum of Illusions
Castlefield Viaduct
Mayfield Park

Freight Island is a good one for adults and kids in the day, you get to listen to decent DJs while the nippers run about

We are actually going to the NYE raver tots thing at Freight Island

Obviously loads of eats and drinks in and around NQ

1.5 might be too young, but if you’re noodling round the city centre this could be fun and there’s plenty of eating/drinking round that whole area now. It’s also near the Museum of Science and Industry that Joe suggested above.
