Had a zx81 as well, bought from our next door neighbour for £20. It did absolutely nothing.
Holy grail for me was getting two tape copies ‘phasing’ in sync, recording it and then pause chopping bits back into the original, remember Can you handle it was a fave. Took hours, and so repetitive made it hard to listen to it at all afterwards.
You’ve nailed what making a track is like there heh…
Hours and £££s wasted on this in 1983/4. Rather than alternatively bashing the buttons, you could achieve incredible results by pulling your jumper sleeve over your hand and then rubbing the buttons in a polishing stylee.
I remember those!!! They had the big one and the small one. best advert ever. A very ocd friend had one and he kept it on the shelf spotless. Until i got my hands on it on purpose just to rile him up.
The graphics on that were next level
Mind blowing in 1984!
Greatest football ever.
Remember this being the official league football for a few years in the late 70’s/ early 80’s. Used in a few Football League Cup finals around this time.
Somebody at school had a plastic copy of it, the red stripe wore off in no time on tarmac playgrounds.
Spent umpteen hrs of a holiday in Rhyl in summer '86 in front of one of these.
Machine guns, oil slicks & a classic Peter Gunn theme tune
I remember the one you could sit down in, like a x wing cockpit.
“Yaaaaah hooooo” … “You’re all clear, kid”
Spy hunter was absolute class! Getting down the narrow hedgerows to become a boat
Out run was ace too as was this
Yes! The audio was amazing. The feeling that you were on that laser gun in the Millennium Falcon was priceless.
Out Run was indeed ace, living the dream as an 11yo in Northern England by racing a red Ferrari through California with a hot Blonde in the passenger seat lol.
Also spent many hrs and 10pees playing Space Harrier, Commando & Double Dragon in the arcades.
Always wanted that!
Loved Outrun on my ZX. Also, a helicopter game which I can’t remember the name of for the life of me. Happy, yet simple, days.
