One of most importants albums and artist in Argentina, this song it’s a landmark! Thanks for posting it!
No, nay, never
You mean this one?
I think it’s this new Balearic London 12 from Ben Gomori.
The EP it is on is very strong imo. Even if you don’t like the Macarena dub (I like it!) the other three tracks would be perfect @howler radio gear.
it is this one indeed, the IG comments are hilarious
Someone sent me this more tech housey macarena dub today
And this one
Are we having another “summer of macarena”?
I was in Italy in the 1st summer
Lorries with back full of speakers used to drive round playing it
This one rips. Dancehall flex!
Absolutely!
No amount of turd polishing justifies the macarena’s presence on this thread
“Do not fear the cheese”, as a wise man once said.
“Balearic means never having to say you’re sorry”
Interesting take on “Balearic” by Ben Gomori, Sarahtonin etc for their Balearic London party. Seems much more aligned with an “open format” eclectic style / anything goes as opposed to beard stroking dullness.
I’m all for it.
“Pop music that sounds good on pills”.
Next time I’m bored at a bus station I would like to read a really beardy, academic deconstruction of cheese and what differentiates it from novelty. The cheese I was into early 90s felt far removed from the dancing-with-someone’s-mum-on-holiday hits that crashed the charts. Something like Manic MCs or Mystique veered on cheesy but wasn’t novelty. Or maybe it all was?
One persons chedder is anothers Casu martzu.
New genre, Edam?
Nothing wrong with a record thats fun and divides opinion as long as its Gouda nuff.
I mean, i can get on board with this-
I’m in the office today so haven’t been able to listen to this version yet but one of my funniest club experiences ever was hearing the Macarena in a dancehall club in Kingston, Jamaica in about 2005. The atmosphere was electric, dancehall bangers all night long. It was just before Damien Marley’s welcome to jamrock was released and that track Move which samples Exodus was a big play alongside Elephant Man, Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, Assassin, Buju etc.
I was taking a break from the madness on a balcony overlooking the dancefloor when the DJ dropped the Macarena. Immediately everyone started doing this perfect line dance in synch. It was totally incongruous - I was gobsmacked and pissing myself - yet somehow it worked…
I can’t get that fucking record out of my head now. Was pulled up at work as to why I was whistling it.
