Yeah that was a great idea…
Heard it on one of the Pine Walk tapes. It makes sense…

Cliff’s had his moments, you’d think after 60 odd years of making music there should be a few nuggets knocking about. the early 70’s “tracks and grooves” album is good but not exactly Balearic.
What a great record this is!
Anything with a flute and I’m in. Love it
I’m slowly getting through this thread, but i thought i would stop here and point out that this gentleman is actually a member of this forum, so we could ask him.
@Donald.Dust is this mix Balearic?
Q - Does anyone know who was behind this label “Musica Sol Y Mar”? They released this series of comps late 2000s. Address in Portinatx IBZ but seems to be the only clue.

Not much help, but a bit more detail here:
Was going for the Afro-Cosmic angle with this mix actually! But there are a few more Balearic sounding choices, I’m not sure if the pitched up Weather Report & the kind of euphoric Stanley Clark thing truly represent the culture but they have that kind of mood to me.

I suppose if you take out the time/context from the Balearic & Cosmic scenes, there is a major overlap in the mood and feel, even if the tunes might not have been the same. When it comes to Cosmic digging I have been looking more at the pre 86 mixtapes to find the electronic Kraut/Prog rock, synthy post punk, oddball electronic disco stuff etc. I bet your Eggers era stuff is way more classically Balearic.
ty for this… i first heard the edit version played by thomas bullock on a boat on the east river and have been searching for it ever since
I’ve had the Stanley Clarke for years but put it away and never really appreciated it. Listening with fresh ears now. Thanks!
big up! kind of a weird one to throw in a DJ mix but it really works with those drums at either side. enjoy
