I love this one by Artwork. Always gets me in a party mood.
Rub n tug dfa sampler mix
Prince language no comprendo 4 parter
Loads of good stuff on the dj history mystery mixes too http://www.mysterymix.com/
Does anyone have files of the Idjutsâ short-lived Ministry of Sound online radio show? I think it was broadcast monthly for 12-18 months or so around 2011. I had almost all of them as MP3s on an old hard drive that I lost on the subway. The tunes and mixes were great, and they were like a discotheque Beavis & Butthead on the mic.
Iâd take a rip of that if itâs going spare?
On yeah, rub n tug, good shout
Hereâs one from Leo Mas that I always thought was a great mix. Recorded live at what sounded like a top party in London.
This link is to a Ban Ban Ton Ton article about it. The mix is at the bottom, hosted by Radio Raheem in Milan.
any chance to share that rip?

would give my right arm to see Thomas and Eric do another Rub n Tug party.
Idjuts & Kotey here in a few weeks but sadly canât go
That Harvey RA 300 mix. That was a deeply disappointing mix iirc. I remember there was some chat at the time if it was deliberate to throw RA types off the scent. I dont know if that was just more âcult of Harveyâ hype or if there was some truth in it as it was such a huge let down.
Harvey first beats in space was pretty goodâŚ
If you donât know this youâre probably thinking Iâm mad posting a Hump mix in this thread, and why they got him to do this comp of their edits when the likes of Harvey & Tim Sweeney were hanging there is anyones guess. Great mix.
info here
I was a regular there when I lived in New York. Tony Humphries wife was a friend of Mangiami and he did actually play there himself at least once.
@domodisco will have all the stories
This wasnât Harveyâs thing, but he was there a couple of times to hang out and we all know him. It was amazing time - there werenât a lot of venues playing Balearic and cosmic stuff and between me and Gianfran and others we pretty much knew everyone and they would come and play and hang out. Think the DJ History era, Harveyâs Sarcastic Disco mix (which we were all obsessed with), middle-aged ravers, Lovefingers original blog, DJ Zyron, etc.
I started doing a Sunday afternoon party there in 2005 with Alex from Tokyo and we had a lot of our friends play, Quinn Luke did a live set one afternoon etc. It kinda mushroomed from there. Gianfranco started doing 'LâAperitivo on Mondays then later a thing on Wednesdays and the occasional blowout in the basement. There was a serious Italian/French/British DJ crowd and we even did a party with like 200 plus people on the day/night of the Italy France World Cup in 2006.
The restaurant was close to Little Italy where they blocked off a bunch of the streets and were playing the match on outdoor screens. A ton of people wandered over after and I played with the Idjuts and Dimitri from Paris and it was absolute mayhem. And yeah, Tony Humphries (now ex) wife was a friend of ours and he did play. He loved the vibe and is also a super nice guy.
It was an incredible if short time. There is actually a Test Pressing article that gives you a better sense of the vibe. https://www.testpressing.org/magazine/mangiami-la-compilationgolf-channel
There are also a ton of mixes that Gianfranco recorded here⌠https://www.mixcloud.com/mangiaminyc/
Something about a world record for the number of people in a toilet cubicle? Allegedly.
Thanks for that (& @Piers )
I remember hearing some stories around the time the EPs came out but had never understood the Humphries connection.
I still play this mix all the time, cheers
The omerta is still in effectâŚ
Seeing as I lived in Boston from 2007 - 2011 it pains me to find out about such a place only years later. NY still had a very cool energy back then and I loved going there. Not so much anymore. Of course I was a lowly underage college student and more interested in Jazz at the time than Harveyâs cosmic shenanigans, but it wouldâve been cool to visit. Seems like a real vibe. Love the compilation.
