House Of The Rising Sun - The Japanese House Music Thread

Agreed! Saw Powder here in São Paulo with 5ive on the same bill (separate sets and b2b at a local bar), they put on a great show.

I Got a Fun falls into that category too IMO

Yep, I loop the beginning and play it out sometimes, a lot of people ask me what it is. Some also ask me if it’s from some video game, too, cos it has that Sega arcade aesthetic to it.

Speaking of which here’s something I also drop on unsuspecting crowds (well OK once, but I plan to more times after Covid is done):

Classic, but I like the vocal mix, especially the cool one where Terada stuck Larry Levan’s exasperated voicemail in the beginning.

This is not a Levan mix from what I know, but that voicemail is just worth the price of admission.

Takecha, brilliant producer, too. This was unreleased for a while until the Hhatri folk were kind enoigh to release it properly.

Going slightly heavier. This fella is a very good DJ too

This dude was so prolific. I have so much of his music. I actually forgot about him which means I guess he hasn’t released anything for a while which is a shame.

Edit - nothing house wise for 10 years and then a handful of ambient records including one last year.

Some of you will probably remember Fred P’s remix of In Chain

This is a Maurice Fulton alias though

No, it isn’t. Maurice Fulton helped produce it but I can assure you that the living legend that is DJ Nori is certainly a real person https://ra.co/dj/djnori/biography

He remixed Happy Sunday

It’s a real genre bender for sure.
