Hauls Found Today

Bit far for me, but thanks for keeping me in mind :slightly_smiling_face:

Great haul. That Sarah Dash 12” is great

20p records still exist!

Been a while since I done one of these…

Spent the last couple of months living in Barcelona, here’s the best bits I’ve picked up there in that time:

https://www.discogs.com/release/1117674-Wayne-Shorter-Featuring-Milton-Nascimento-Native-Dancer

An all-timer, Ponta De Areia is the cut here but I’m sure you all know that anyway. Heard it playing in a listening bar in Japan last year and had my mind blown, been after this LP ever since. Nice to pick it up in the wild rather than Discogs.

https://www.discogs.com/release/3062917-Ama-Maïga-Une-Fleche-Malienne

Practically mint copy of this Malian disco/funk gem for €30. Is genuinely spotless. Check “Souboury”.

https://www.discogs.com/release/1324963-Sammy-Barbot-Groovy

Obscure tropical sounding disco track, not really italo disco (to my ears at least).

https://www.discogs.com/release/1539747-Caroline-Loeb-Cest-La-Ouate

Slinky French synth pop. Balearic af. Picked up for €1 at Mercat dels Encants, the nearest thing to a boot sale that I’ve found in Barcelona.

https://www.discogs.com/release/3637186-Various-Melody-Of-Thailand

Another €1 Encants find, this is a nice LP of Thai percussion and vocal chants, great for samples and the production/recording quality is actually very good. Most of the time this sort of thing sounds terrible. Should be going for more than it does imo although does appear to be loads of copies floating about.

https://www.discogs.com/release/5447809-John-Martyn-Glorious-Fool

Another from Encants but think this was €5 or something. I remember posting Couldn’t Love You More on this forum somewhere a while back - an absolute beaut of a track.

https://www.discogs.com/release/552481-Yann-Linhart-Call-On-The-White-Line

Title track is some gakked-up white reggae yacht rock nonsense, absolutely brilliant. The rest of the LP is truly awful.

https://www.discogs.com/release/9907612-Cheaps-Moliendo-Café

Venezuelan pressing of a nice Italo track.

https://www.discogs.com/release/30542149-Carlos-Maria-Trindade-Nuno-Canavarro-Mr-Wollogallu

Portuguese ambient record from the early 90s reissued recently by a Barcelona based label. New one to me but one of the best things I’ve heard in a long time.

https://www.discogs.com/release/32278581-Pharoah-Sanders-Love-In-Us-All

Decent sounding reissue from the tail end of last year. Pretty sure this was priced up wrong, paid €20.

https://www.discogs.com/release/3313866-Bianca-Monigote

Killer reggae infused euro-disco.

https://www.discogs.com/release/665905-Christophe-Belle

B-side is a mad hypnotic cosmic synth thing, great stuff.

https://www.discogs.com/release/1139129-Lineas-Aereas-Landschaften-Benelux-Radiotron

Probably my best find, picked up in a €2 crate. Obscure local minimal synth pop. No sleeve unfortunately.

And a couple other nice 7s…

Taking some time to go through these. You are living the dream!
I’m sure there are plenty more of dusty boxes of unwanted gold waiting for you.

Not at the minute, came back to the UK over the weekend, will be back in March at some point but probably just for a week or two this time - having to watch the 90 day “tourist visa” allowance, cheers Boris.

The plan is to move over this year to live with my girlfriend who lives there currently, and gain residency via her. I’m just hesitant to do so without having found work, so that’s what I’m looking for currently.

Galerias Olimpia is where Glove Records is, right? some great bits in there. I know there’s a few other record stores around there too but didn’t check them out. Any other tips greatly appreciated!

Nice one! Sounds a lot like us. We had to go through all the legal/admin hoops to get my girlfriend on the system. Drop me a mssg if you get stuck. re record shops: wah wah and Edison’s on Riera Baixa are good for old bargains too + the back of Discos Impacto on Carrer Tallers. Also Salvadiscos, although that’s more obvious stuff (+ more of a social/gig night)

‘Completed it mate’ haul ! Can you elaborate on the circumstances, I’m sure you were out of there quick?

Honestly it was just a case of “right place, right time” i was looking at some stock that a guy gets from buying estate sales, job lots etc and he mentioned he had some stuff in his van that hadn’t gone out into the pile yet. I did ask where it came from, but those guys always just tell you something to throw you off the scent. He said it was a “dancey dancey guy who was just moving to another country”. I’m guessing the move he made was possibly six feet in a more southwardly direction… I might be wrong though.

Put me out of my misery - does the Joe Jackson have the slow version Lovefingers played on a mix that was up here a while back ?

sadly no, the label looked different from the UK 12" i own but it is still the wrong one that fades in halfway through the intro. I don’t even know the slow one, but i am still in the dark about which version has the opening drums that are mixable.

Balearic Mike plays the live version from a bootleg album, might be barking up the wrong tree.

Blimey!

Might as well be you rather than some clueless chancer dealer.
