I love these tunes.
I went to Smash’s mid-weeker shortly after they came out. The place was jumping, with half the crowd in 40s jazz suits, the rest homies in puffa jackets.
It was in an old dancehall with a balcony just like the one in Paris Is Burning, and weirdly those 2 pop-rap kids with their trousers on backwards (Kris Kross) were amonst the people jamming the mic in with the dancers while Smash, errr, smashed it from the balcony.
A brilliant, brilliant party.

New edition of a brilliant 2019 release. I love Kali and a good proper organ, especially if in a church or cathedral with heavenly acoustics. I’m trying my dad’s old contacts to do a bit of recording in the magnificent cathedral in Kirkwall, Orkney.
Also, this variation Kali did of the (equally) talented Caterina Barbieri’s Fantas. The kind of thing you wouldn’t notice in the background, but is hauntingly beautiful when fully immersed in.

Great to see this old Playhouse classic from 2002 getting a digital revival.
I last heard this out at a Low Life (Bill prob?) but thats at least a decade ago.
