Just catching up with this guy’s tracks. Really like them. _A collection of early and rare underground British psychedelic house gems from 1989, blending the trippy, mind-expanding sounds of machine funk, new beat, industrial / ebm and samplers with the birth of acid house wonderland._ https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/v=2/album=3552540890/size=large/tracklist=false/artwork=small/ ---

is there or was there ever an actual thing called _psychedelic house_? Am thinking stuff I used to hear out that was deeply trippy played very late on but not easily defined, I dunno maybe Hieroglyphic Being or Tin Man, or maybe thinking of slightly smackier energy than Detroit house? IIRC DJ Alex used to sometimes play this stuff at Voices much to the dismay of the disco crew I guess we already have it well covered in the deep house and floaters threads? ---

I think one man’s psychedelic house is another’s minimal/progressive etc. I think we’re getting too carried away with genres and sub-genres, after all like Duke Ellington said, “there’s only three types of music; good, bad and floaty bangers.” (Also a psychedelic house thread could be super interesting). ---

If there was a psychedelic house thread that wonky exist dance stuff is a fit. Some of that is great. [![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/J9xkGvB04Yk/hqdefault.jpg "Heaven And Earth - Very Happy") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9xkGvB04Yk) ---

Then here is the gray area. Is this a floaty banger or psychedelic house?
