Good few years ago but a friend got in touch with a guy called DJ Chicken George after hearing a couple of mixes on a mountain biking trip in Canada.
Got him to come to the UK and play at his birthday bbq at a local community centre (as you do), put him up and he did a few other gigs here. Lovely guy. Looks like he’s battling cancer 
but he was very involved in Austin so may be worth exploring those links…

I may be wrong on this but I think Willie Burns/DJ Speckulator moved from NYC down to Austin. He’s on Insta so could hit him up there.
Cheer Up Charlie’s is the main club there I think, I’ve seen Juan Maclean post about gigs there.
