Sydney, Australia late 80s parties.
Clothes at that point in time were so good…
Amsterdamaaged…
A few stories here. ‘I get to go on the bed at home, so I’m definitely going on the seat here, too.’
Yeah, it was a term that didn’t really seem to stick. It generally was referring to artists like Graham and a league of others that tended to use very ordinary subject matter that was often critiqued at the time as “unphotogenic” and post photographic. Paul Graham’s book Empty Heaven, for example had quite a few shots of car engines and the rear of peoples heads etc.
Cheers. My kind of thing to a tee.
A1 The Great North Road is one of my favourite photo books.
Nice find. Where did you see these?
I saw the image of Kier Kirby on Insta and it credited the photographer, so I did a bit of a search on her. turns out there’s a book published all about this one party!
Cool, will take a look
I watched the Tramps documentary last night. I’m on a bit of a roll having watched the Slits one and the I am Weekender film over the weekend,
It’s great isn’t it? Goes beyond the usual low-hanging interviewees
I really enjoyed it. Really made me hanker after a bygone age though. Oh to be young again!! ![]()
I went to a Blitz thing at the V&A a few years ago and what struck me was how creative it all was. This woman was writing about how she’d make a new outfit from scratch every week. Basically the expectation was you’d wear something that no-one had ever worn before, or you wouldn’t get in.
Documentary?
Trigger Warning! Trigger Warning!
Don Letts (he who bridged the gap between reggae and punk thereby assuring his place in any documentary about anything since) features a bit, not lotts.
btw it’s on Amazon prime
Did he really? The secret is out now
