Can you imagine the shite he’s filling that kids head with
The man is abhorrent. He’s like a villain in Austin Powers with his own little mini me. Poor kid.
Reminds me of a few nights spent in the depths of Patagonia, nothing like the sight of an unpolluted sky full of stars.
Anyone remember Tandy?
My first decks and mixer were from the one in the Arndale in Mcr city centre before the IRA blew it up
Blew Tandy up?
Lol, Gerry Adams bought a faulty mixer from there and took it personal
I had a pair of Realistics and a Tandy mixer. I’ve got a photo somewhere, i’ll see if I can find it.
They bomb they set off destroyed that part of the Arndale, then they rebuilt it but Tandys never returned
I had a cheap Gemini mixer from there, no pics unfortunately.
i had at least two radio shack (aka tandy) mixers - the first had no pfl cue, and no crossfader. it might as well have just been y-cables with a little volume control.
the second was more suited for mixing, and was built like a tank. my pal inadvertently left it on the roof of his car and drove off - the ac cord got snagged in his bumper, and he dragged it for a couple of blocks. it had some jagged corners, but still worked!
edit: found a photo, even if it’s hella blurry. this would have been my second, well-worn radio shack mixer.
i had mostly forgotten about those turntables - i believe those are fisher MT-275s. they had power switches on them, so you could use them as a sort of default start/stop swich. you could cue up, turn the power off, then when it was ready to mix, power up and off you go.
no idea what the white vinyl record is - probably a razormaid, judging from that era.
Can’t find the photo at the moment but I did find a snap of Future / Soundshaft / Heaven back exit from the alley on Craven Street, with Johnny F from Liberty Grooves and his GF Sara in it too!
My first set was a Soundlab combo. My youngest has them now.
