This is a great selection, a good 10 or more of these would also be on my list so you’ve basically saved me the trouble!

I remember Giles playing it on Radio 1 & it stopped me in my tracks, amazing record.

I love that this thread has made me listen to things that are giving me nothing but joy. Like having a long lost best mate knock on your door and you pick up where you left off with no issues at all.

Big up everyones thats taken up the challenge so far. Been toying with the idea but ive not really been into any new music since 2015ish, save for a few songs here and there, and have mostly been listening to and rediscovering older stuff.

Might give this a go anyway

Pick 25 pre-2015.

Some amazing lists. A lot of the tunes unsurprisingly make up the majority of my list too. I’ll have to put my thinking cap on.

I’m still adding to this but I figured this thread was too good not to immortalize.

a few glaring omissions…

Try to Find me ‘Needs Ending’ - just the right side of cheesy. MASSIVE party pleaser everywhere.
Mark E ‘plastic people’ - Harvey played it at Pikes one year and blew my mind. Mark E’s finest imo (saying something)
Shuggie O ‘Ah Ut Mi Hed’ Ripperton remix. My missus loves this. It’s our tune.
Nitin Sawhney ‘Sunset’ - yes, saturated on adverts and chillout CDs, but still gorgeous
Gregory Porter ‘1960 What’ + rmx. Oof, what a voice
Laughing Light of Plenty/Naturals ‘The Rose’ - remember first hearing this at the London Fields (or Rob da Bank radio show?) thinking it might be some unearthed Stone Roses b-side. Instant classic, which instantly had people grinning.
Martin Solveig ‘Madan’ - it’s shame he sold out to the devil, because he made some KILLER party tunes. Brewster dropped it on a river boat and the whole place went OFF!

Just realised Larry Heard - Missing You was released in 2000. Same with some of the UR classics (Timeline!). Discovered them all a bit later so somehow assumed they were older/90s. They probably soundtracked the last 25 years more than most of the tunes on my list.

I probably should have had an Omar S track on there too, and some Theo or Moodymann.

I added the shadow ray remix of here’s your trance now dance for you to the playlist, and don’t you want my love by moodymann. Open to all suggestions fo both though. I just love those two.

… blows the dust of some old hard drives…
