2024 intentions and habits

@FireAppleRed I still have an Ableton licence just in case, mainly for the sake of compatibility with other folk and I find it’s still better for working with audio/warping. Not used it for ages though.
Bitwig suits me much better and I’m finding eurorack integration extremely straightforward with a DC coupled interface. Generally I detest any Youtube tutorials but The Taches Teaches grid ones really kick started the whole Bitwig thing for me. I really like his delivery and content, so much so I’m considering signing up to his Patreon.

Exactly the same here, Ableton and Bitwig. Best of both worlds. Yeah, same, I think Ableton is much better with audio/samples, and I have too many wacky M4L devices I can’t give up. It’s also fun to open both together and with the Link feature and use Ableton as a VST, tracking audio straight into BW.

Also a huge Tache fan, learned so much from him. There’s also a german guy called Polarity Music who does things with BW and the grid i’d never have thought of before and wouldn’t think possible.

I love how BW can be as functional as Ableton on the surface and but there is an endless playground beneath the depths. All the little uber features, like turning off devices and they don’t use up resources make BW an amazing experience. My template is LOADED with goodies and takes 2 seconds to open and zero systems resources. If I tried that in Ableton it would be the end. I’m still not jazzed about the new browser but slowly getting it around it.

Need to finish the ambient EP I started this year. (All BW too). There was a Tache technique I used in Procreant that blew my mind.

Continuing the slow reduction of the online world from my life. 1-2 hours a day , max. A midlife crisis maybe, but who cares. 99% of it is a waste of precious time and I don’t think I’m wrong.

Swimming twice a week. Amazing low impact fun for an old skater with bad knees. The sauna and steam room are nice too.

Upping my lions mane grows. Possible business opportunity with a local restaurant. Psilocybes to follow.

SVQ and degree modules finished. Dementia training. Summer fun down in London.

Just looking for something else on the site and I’ve seen my post from January.

I tentatively started going to the gym again last December. I thought that if I committed to twice per week then it would be worthwhile. I kind of anticipated back problems, but although they’re a constant in my life, my biggest lay off (from the gym) has only been a week or so.

Anyway, just to report that I’m totally addicted to going to the gym. I’m currently on a 5-day split, i.e 5 sessions per week (plus some cardio on top). On a bad week I’m still going at least 3 times.

My social media feed has fully morphed from music to fitness and has been massively useful for ideas, advice, and form tips.

So instead of losing 5% muscle mass over a decade - my original impetus to start strength training again - I’ve gained around an extra 5% muscle mass in the space of 12 months. It’s really visibly noticeable too.

Really pleased with myself, and it’s been nice to spend so much time on self improvement.

My aim was to buy no new records this year and I’ve only bought eight 2024 new releases all year :anguished:

I read that as 82024 records. Good going!

Well in.

I’m the same. Probably in the best shape of my life, tbh (even in my teens, whilst i was playing loads if sport, I still drank like a fish and smoked like a chimney).

Even treated myself to a Whoop band at the end of October!
